Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take pets ?
We are unable to accept pets at either Craggley or Inglenook cottage. Please read our section on Pets.
Do you have car parking ?
Parking is at a premium in villages throughout the Yorkshire Dales. We are fortunate to be able to offer secure and private parking for two cars at Inglenook Cottage. Parking is not available immediately outside Craggley Cottage due to the narrowness of the road. However, street parking spaces are available a few yards before reaching the cottage. These spaces are available on a first-come first-served basis and are used by the residents. If they are full then parking around the village green has never been a problem but represents a slightly longer walk back to the cottage.
Can I smoke at your cottages ?
Both Craggley and Inglenook Cottages are strictly no smoking. This is for the benefit of all guests. However if you smoke responsibly and dispose of the cigarette ends in the metal dustbin provided in the garden, then smoking is allowed in the immediate vicinity outside of both cottages.
Do you have access to the Internet
We offer free wireless Broadband access to the Internet at both cottages. Connection details are provided in the guide at both cottages.
Can I pay by credit card ?
Sorry but at the moment we are unable to offer the facility to pay by credit card. We recognise that this method of payment is a great convenience to many people. However, such is the nature and size of our business and the volumes of transactions present us with an expensive challenge to accept credit card payments. We are continually seeking to be able to provide an affordable service and hope to be able to announce the facility in the future.
What methods of payment do you accept?
Guests can pay by any of the following methods :
* Personal cheque in £ sterling only
* Travellers cheques in other currencies
* Bank transfer (either BACS within the UK or international bank transfer from other countries)
* Paypal - electronic payment from your bank or credit card. You do need to have your own paypal account to use this method.
What do I have to bring?
We hope that we have covered everything you should need to make our cottages home from home. Please read the page on Whats included for either Inglenook Cottage or Craggley Cottage. Realistically all you need to bring are your clothes, toiletries and food (which can be bought locally of course). Bedlinen for the travel cot is not provided at either cottage.
Are there any extra or hidden charges ?
Our policy is to provide what we believe you wish to see which is an all-inclusive price. There are no heating supplements and we do not make an additional charge for fuel, logs or kindling. We make no extra charges for towels or bedding. We do ask you to provide your own bedding for the cot if there is a baby in your party. Hence there are no extra costs at all. However, if you damage or break anything or smoke in the cottage that requires us to do extra cleaning there will be an additional charge.
Can we bring more than 4 people?
Both Craggley Cottage and Inglenook Cottage are designed and furnished to sleep any combination of adults and children up to 4 people. In addition, we also allow a baby in the travel cot provided. Please note that the travel cot will fit easily into the master bedroom but not in the twin bedroom when four people are resident.
We are unable to provide or able to accept small children sleeping on camp beds in the main bedroom. Also tents in the garden or in the village are not accepted.
Not so frequently asked but still important..
Can we book Craggley and Inglenook for a party of 8 people?
We would like to review such requests on an individual basis. We have accepted bookings covering both cottages where all the guests are part of an organised walking week but have their own time at evenings. We have declined bookings where there are 8 people in the same party who are holidaying as a party together. This is because our experience is that the party tends to centre its social activity around Inglenook Cottage which is not designed to service or act as a congregation or eating place for 8 people.
Therefore, if you need self catering accommodation for parties of 6 or 8 people or above we would recommend Country Hideaways (www.countryhideaways.co.uk) or Premier Cottages (www.premiercottages.co.uk).
