VisitBritain
VisitBritain is the organisation created in 2003 to market Britain to the rest of the world, and England to the British and close European partners. Formed by the merger of the British Tourist Authority and the English Tourism Council, its mission is to build the value of tourism by creating world-class destination brands and marketing campaigns. VisitBritain develops the accommodation schemes, sets the standards, champions the ratings and promotes only quality-assessed accommodation in the enjoyEngland campaigns and all VisitBritain international marketing activities.
EnjoyEngland
EnjoyEngland is the official tourist board for England and the domestic part of VisitBritain. Their mission is to grow the value of tourism throughout the English regions, throughout the year. Their vision is simply to enjoyEngland. They are responsible for the 560 Tourist Information Centres (TIC) throughout England, all independently staffed by local people, ready to deal with a whole range of queries - to assist in planning your trip and to help you get the most from your destination. In Wensleydale, there are TIC at Hawes, Aysgarth Falls and Leyburn and many others in the adjoining Dales.
VisitBritain National Quality Assessment Scheme
'Quality in Tourism' provides the assessment of over 23,000 businesses on behalf of VisitBritain. This scheme assesses and grades all self-catering businesses on an annual basis, so that guests can be assured on what to expect and to receive a level of quality that is measured and assessed against national guidleines.
Inglenook Cottage has been awarded FIVE Stars and Craggley Cottage has consistently been awarded FOUR Stars for the past four years by the VisitBritain inspectors. The inspector reviews a number of detailed factors across five areas against a stringent set of rules, policies and guidelines. Each area is rated individually and collectively this governs the overall rating for a property. The results for Cottage in the Dales in the July 2007 Assesement are below.

Yorkshire Tourist Board
Cottage in the Dales is proud to be a member of the Yorkshire Tourist Board. Like them, we are passionate about providing quality accommodation and advice to visitors to Yorkshire and in our case particularly to the Yorkshire Dales. We wholeheartedly support their mission and messages.
The Tourist Board are passionate about Yorkshire and even more passionate about marketing Yorkshire. James Herriot quoted West Burton as 'for some it is the most beautiful village in England'. 'Families Welcome', 'Walkers Welcome' & 'Cyclists Welcome' Specialist
Accreditations
The natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales is a haven for everyone - old, young, families, walkers and cyclists. Cottage in the Dales are delighted to be awarded the specialist VisitBritain Welcome Schemes accreditations - 'Families Welcome', 'Walkers Welcome' and 'Cyclists Welcome'.
These schemes highlight the holiday accommodation that provide facilities or services to welcome certain groups. These assessments are reviewed as part of the annual Quality in Tourism assessment visit. They were developed with expert advice and support from the Countryside Agency and the Youth Hostel Association.
They each give families, walkers and cyclists the confidence that they are booking quality accommodation that meets their particular needs.
We already know from our many visitors and the comments left in the guest books that they value the location of our cottages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. West Burton gives them direct access to a variety of circular walks for both the novice and families with young children to the more challanging heights of the moors straight from the front doors.
