Yorkshire Self-Catering Holiday of the Year Award 2008

We are proud to announce that Cottage in the Dales have been selected as a finalist for the Self-Catering Holiday of the Year 2008 in the Yorkshire Tourist Board White Rose Awards. As one of six finalists, this was a tremendous privilege to be have been selected amongst such strong competition.

We are delighted to be short-listed for the final of the Self-Catering Holiday of the Year 2008 at this our first attempt. The White Rose Awards for Tourism are the top accolade for tourism in Yorkshire. Dubbed the Yorkshire 'tourism oscars' all the lucky finalists headed for the newly renovated Bridlington Spa on 25th September for the final 'oscars'-style ceremony. Surrounded by supporters, VIPs, sponsors, invited guests and representatives from tourism businesses large and small throughout Yorkshire, this was one of the largest tourism awards ceremony of its kind in the UK, attended by 500 people.

Although on this first attempt we were not successful, losing out to Noelle's Cottage in Pickering. We would like to congratulate them for all their hard work.

The judges assessed submissions across a range of subjects that demonstrated a focus on high quality of service and accommodation, innovation in marketing, a strong business case and demonstrated evidence of a high level of visitor satisfaction and value for money.

Cottage in the Dales is proud to be a member of the Yorkshire Tourist Board. The Tourist Board are passionate about Yorkshire and even more passionate about marketing Yorkshire. Like them, we strive to provide quality accommodation and services for visitors to the Yorkshire Dales. We wholeheartedly support their mission and messages.

Even though Cottage in the Dales was not the overall winner on the night, we are absolutely delighted to have been one of the six finalists and had a great night out as guests of the Yorkshire Tourist Board.

James Herriot quoted West Burton as 'for some it is the most beautiful village in England'. In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, you will see why both the Tourist Board, the local Dales villagers and we are so proud. Come and see for yourself!
