• First time at The Byre, been to The Dairy and Inglenook, and this cottage is just perfect. Wonderful welcome from Diane & Andrew. Can't fault a thing. Wonderful! The Street Head Inn is a good place to eat and The White Lion at Cray is a must, food is exceptional, also the Sandpiper Inn at Leyburn is great. Lots of wonderful walks. Got in some great walks, managed Pen-y-Ghent and a great walk from Pateley Bridge to Brigham Rocks (circular). Weather has been great for walking and only a little rain. • A lovely, well equipped cottage in a really quiet spot. We can only agree with previous guests' comments on the standard of the accommodation and the lovely hosts. The falls at West Burton are worth the walk, but if it's been wet, we'd recommend very sturdy boots and gaiters! Leyburn & Thirsk worth a visit. Would love to return in warmer weather. Thank you.

• Our second stay at Cottage in the Dales - this time, The Byre, which we almost fell in love with. The cottage has so much character. The kitchen is very well equipped - we could prepare a lot of decent meals from the wonderful produce we retrieved from Mainsgill Farmshop and Campbell’s. Loved the Christmas decorations at Castle Howard, Afternoon Tea at Betty’s and the ‘Behind the Scenes’ Tour at Tennants. A treat at Sunday carvery lunch at the Street Head Inn and the fine dining at the Heifer. Already booked to return in 2026 and looking forward to coming back.
